Hello World!

Hello World! First blog as a Mommy.

Yeji Zoey Lee was born on March 26, 2015 at 5:49 am. She was 7 pounds, 3 oz, 20in.

Today marks three weeks. In Korean postpartum tradition (called ssam(three)-chil(seven)-il(days)), this is traditionally when I can start venturing out into the world, can start being a normal person again instead of avoiding anything cold and being cooped up in a room, mostly resting in bed. However, I did break A LOT of 'rules', especially this last week.

I wanted to start a blog so that I don't go stir-crazy, and have a way to record and express my thoughts, feelings, and explorations. I have the worst memory of almost anybody I know, so this will help me to record my thoughts on mommy-hood, postpartum care, and watching my little miracle grow up.

What do I intend to write about on this blog? This will just be starting point, not something to limit me.

1) Mommy-hood: I want to explore mommy/baby products, ideas, etc. I am currently trying to exclusively breastfeed for at least six months, but to date, it's been very difficult, painful and arduous. I also want to record my little baby grow up. Fun activities with the little one, etc.

2) Postpartum Beauty Care: So I broke out like crazy and gained almost 50 pounds during my nine months of pregnancy. So I want to record skincare tips, and how I lose weight, get healthy, and get fit, and all things beauty.

3) Household Learning: I want to record house care tips, healthy recipes, etc.

Our mini-daschund mix, Annji is there in the bottom left hand corner. She has been a wonderful big sister to Yeji. There is me with Yeji at two weeks postpartum with my new Sakurabloom chambray sling that I got for myself as a 'push-present'. I am covering what is left of my belly. This was also one of the first days I actually put some makeup on, did my hair, and wore a decent outfit.

Yeji came home with some jaundice, so the doctors recommended we spend some time in the sun if we could. Our nursery happens to be the room with the most sunlight. Here are a couple of pics I took at the end of the first week right after a nursing session, so she is happy and awake-- and spending some time basking in the sunlight of spring.

I would like to think I'm a pretty au-naturel girl..  and many would describe me as such, but... I also am a Sephora JUNKIE. Sephora is my number one splurge store, and my favorite store. I always drop in when I'm in the mall.. to explore, and try out products. In recent years, I've daydreamed many a day about become a make-up artist (among the million other careers I've daydreamed about, this is very natural for an ENFP). I am a VIB (Very Important Beauty Insider), and got a coupon postcard in the mail for 15%. So I ventured out by myself for the first time since pre-pregnancy today to splurge on some products. I've been feeling very ugly, fat, bloated, and oily.. so this shopping trip was great retail therapy. Our little family did venture out once before a few days earlier in a failed attempt to try to see the cherry blossoms in D.C. But because of the craziness of traffic, and no parking, we returned and instead went to lunch at the Mosaic district, and explored an organic food market.
Anyways, I love the Urban Decay Eye Primer potion (helps my eye-make up last all day), L'Occitane's hand cream (best hand lotion EVER! so creamy, silky, and never leaves my skin feeling sticky) , Caviar CC Cream (always gives me a good hair day), and the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder in Rich Vanilla (very light and natural). These are repeat purchases.
I always hear everyone raving about the beauty blender, so I got one of those. I've been having terrible breakouts since the onset of pregnancy.. and the Sephora attendants highly recommended the brand Caudalie because of it's all natural ingredients. I wanted some kind of clay/charcoal mask to use weekly at night to help my skin, so I splurged on this Claudalie Instant Detox Mask (we'll see how well it works).
Then I got a free black and white striped make up bag for being a beauty insider, and with my VIB points a sample of the Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum.
